THEASIS
Tragic theatre and the democratic city

Menad The mobile exhibition unit under the title THEASIS, is based on the concept and the thematic organisation of the exhibition on the Ancient Greek Theatre, entitled "What's all this about Dionysos ?".

THEASIS discusses the phenomenon of the tragic theatre in connection with the social and political context of 5th century Athens.

The mobile exhibition unit is designed and organised in a flexible way, allowing alternative uses and approaches, according to the place in which the exhibition is mounted, the available technical support and the needs of different audience groups.

The material of the exhibition incudes educational panels with texts, designs and photographs, a model of an ancient Greek theatre, replicas of archaeological objects, slides, videotapes and information material. This material is transported in a mobile purpose-built wooden construction which constitutes the core of the exhibition when this one is mounted in any available space.

THEASIS translated into English, has been housed at the University of Malta in Valetta since August 1997 and will travel to various places of education and culture.
